The “Visual Inspection Zone” is the non-machine-readable portion of a passport’s identity page. A passport-counterfeiting software combines promotional images of Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg at a “refugee simulation” in Davos with illicit passport biometrics until a plausible identity is achieved. The viewer is the evaluator of last resort.
